FaceBook

Of all social sites, I believe FaceBook is now one of the most visited, if not the most popular. If I'm not mistaken, a few years back MySpace was the most popular and FaceBook was not even close. I think Friendster was even more popular!

When I joined Facebook, maybe that was about 3 or 4 years ago, there were only two from our large family who were signed up. As I was promoting several sites I was workin
g on then, I invited close to a hundred to sign up. No one signed up - I'm quite sure of that. Back then, the applications were not as interesting. That could have been the reason. Poke was one but did not get many interested. Same with Friends for Sale. The only reason I was visiting FaceBook at least once a week or less was because of articles I was posting at Helium. I was getting good traffic from FaceBook as my Helium articles were automatically linked there.

During that time, family and friends were more on Multiply.com. Multiply did not have applications like FaceBook but it was a convenient social site getting updated with one another. However, just this 2009, many of family and friends are already signe
d-up with FaceBook because of interaction on several applications. The chat helps a lot in communicating with friends and family. It is also there where I was able communicate again with schoolmates from way back grade school and high school! Friend suggestions contributed largely on finding friends and even relatives that were unknown to me. FaceBook became more popular when it was featured on Discovery Channel as one of the big successes on the internet along with Google.

Plagiarized Again!

Not long ago I posted about one article that I own at Helium that was plagiarized. Helium recently requested that writers from non-primary English speaking countries stop from being members. That was in July 2009. It was, and is still, difficult to move more than 70 articles to another paying site. Maybe someone from Helium knew about it and spread the word. Around 20 of my articles were top ranking and earning. That would have triggered plagiarists to look for those top rated articles and publish them as their own because it would be taken out of Helium!

The plagiarizer is Cecil Savage and posted it at http://www.jupiterchevroletblog.com/2008/06/27/top-10-common-problems-in-unsafe-autos/ and says published in Car How To's, Safety under her Csavage pen name and indicated a date the same as my posted date of June 27 (no year)! My original post at Helium is June 27, 2008! She could not claim it to be hers because I have promoted it at Digg.com http://digg.com/autos/Top_10_common_problems_in_unsafe_autos, where the original date posted shows and also promoted my article at Mixx.com http://www.mixx.com/stories/520240/top_10_common_problems_in_unsafe_autos, unfortunately the date does not show. My pen name is the same and shows rbnstr08.

In my disgust, I searched for information about the website 'jupiterchevrolet' and found her information. As of this date, I have sent her already 2 emails requesting her to un-publish it. Still no response or action. I hope that someone who comes across this blog can advise me on how to report this plagiarism.

Please note that article would not show any longer when clicked because Helium has removed it from publication on their web site.

Michael Jackson

"I'll be There" is one of my favorites coming from the Jacks0n 5 sung by Michael Jackson. It was really amazing for me to know that he was just an 8-year old kid singing for a band! All the while, before learning about Michael, I thought it was a female singing for the Jackson 5. I am not aware of anyone as young as he is to have sang, or is singing for a band, that has reached the same fame and gathered that much fortune.
He was a great singer and performer because most young boys would have a "voice-change" after puberty. For me, his voice did not change that much. His brand of songs would easily be recognized as his. It is unique in many ways. If I remember right, he organized the charity for "We are The World". That song is global and very touching.
Michael Jackson will be missed very much in the entertainment world even he was blamed or charged of some misdeeds.

Qassia

Blogs are fine and there are many that focus on a topic. However, I found it better to be reading and screening Intel at Qassia, where I also write some articles. With the number of "Intels" to be screened, it is at your option to screen only what interests you. Two good things about this is you don't have to search and another is you come across an article or topic that you might have unknowingly wanted to learn about!

Well, of course, this is aside from what I could earn from that site. It is a better option for me to earn and learn. Some articles are quite lengthy but most are short. On the average, they could be about 3 to 4 paragraphs for a good read. It's hard to appreciate and learn from those that are too short because it lacks information that you might want.

Online Games

The internet has done a lot with online games. It used to be games can be played only by one against the software or computer. Counter Strike became popular because players from different parts of the globe could interact, have a team or band together. There were a lot of kids, of course mostly boys, got "addicted" to it. Some were even skipping classes just to play the game online. Then Ragnarok online also became popular but I believe it was only in some countries.

Now, the GTA or Grand Theft Auto is one that really amazed me because two my sons play it online! They log in to the GTA Xtreme Role-Play (XRP). It's like being in a movie and doing things with buddies online. The graphics and controls of the game are just amazing! Add to that a more amazing capability that team mates could talk to each other online! They communicate to each other what they are doing, planning to do, warn a buddy and just about anything virtually!

I could not recall where I read about the benefits of playing online or computer war games and it says it develops some abilities of children. The benefit I saw in my sons are developing their conversational English and accent.

Frustrations and Persistence

Frustrations and Persistence
Wrong persistence often results to frustrations. Yes, go ahead, don't read or follow instructions! Insist on how you want it done! Have it the way you want it! Be unreasonable! But then, who will be the loser in the end? There are many frustrations in life and they come whether we like it or not. Why? Because there are many things that are beyond our direct control. There are just things or events that come, sometimes without us even not knowing about it. Would we call that fate?

Convenience = Laziness

Convenience = Laziness
Convenience is the "easy-way-out". It is more convenient to use TV remote control than going over to the "idiot box" to change channel, change color options, do volume control, contrast, etcetera. Now, what would that equate to? I have been in wait for so many years to see some remote control on changing a flat tire. Though there are chemicals now injected in a tire to prevent it from running flat, it still is not that convenient when the puncture is larger than 1/4th of an inch.

No Time Attitude

"I have no time for this" - Attitude
Many times, most of us are simply lazy to take action when we say, "I don't have time for this." The desire for instant things and solutions has brought about this modern bad attitude of saying "I don't have time for this." Actually, the last sentence in that article, I have stated that many, even before reading half of it, would have already said, "I don't have the time to read this crap" because they would be the very people who would not admit to be lazy and just want things to come at an instant. Remember, when you say you don't have the time to other people, do you think they would have wanted, first of all, to have given any of their time to you?

Cost of College Education

Cost of College Education
Studying in college has high costs especially in exclusive schools. What is discussed here is the true value before and after school. The non-benefits from college assurance plans in the Philippines as compared to benefits of graduates in the United States who took out loans. In college assurance plans, the tuition is paid in advance on installment for 5 years. For lenders in the U.S. repayment is longer after the student has graduated. Granted forbearance or deferment if unemployed or goes back to school. Please click on the title to read the full article.

Reasons to like a woman

Reasons to like a woman
It is very rare for me to really like a hub or an article. This one made me realize the real and true reasons. There are only a few words in this. All it has are photos and short captions within. It was irresistible for me to just let others find it on search or surf. It shows the true value of women of all ages.
This makes me wonder if there is anything like this that would show for men. Click on the title, take a look and read. The time you take for this is worth it!

Team JazJets at TrafficEra

In promoting several affiliate sites I have been and still with in some right now, there were almost 10 times as much traffic sites that I have utilized. It is only in TrafficEra where I am now having a great experience aside from the good traffic my sites are getting from them. Currently, I am promoting this blog and my HubPages there. As long as I do my share of work surfing at TrafficEra, the stream of traffic is consistent. I am able to monitor it at my traffic source at HubPages. It is almost at par with Google when comes to search traffic.

I have joined a team, JazJets, and my experience there is really worth it. There is no pressure to work and provides many links and online acquaintances! It promotes good relations within the team. It is rare to find online friends who happen to work the same or similar sites. A team at TrafficEra allows only for 25 members, max. In just 2 months with the team, I learned many more interesting online things.

Prior to that, I was invited then subsequently joined a ranking team. At first I thought I was lucky to be accepted. There were some days when I could not work on TrafficEra and not long after I was booted out. I would have taken it nicely if it were me who requested to join them. But no, they invited me! Out of courtesy, they should have at least requested me to leave or resign. My point here is, if you invite someone, you accept him unconditionally. When someone requests to join, that is the time you set rules and guidelines to stay with the option to taken out without any notice. Anyway it was worth the experience and knowing the people in there.

Page Ranking

Page Ranking
There are several factors to get a good Page Rank. I realized it only when one reviewer appreciated the page rank of my benny813.onesite.com. Then I was suspected by a blog ads provider that I was using unaccepted page ranking strategies. I did not know about page ranking until I was informed about all these.
With that, I researched on page ranking and was surprised that traffic actually came more from back links or links to other sites. All the while I thought that traffic sites, keywords, tags and advertisements or promotions were the factors to getting a higher page rank. Please CLICK HERE or on the title to read more . . . .

How I Cured Stage 4 Cancer in Two Weeks For Less Than The Cost Of A Night At The Movies

How I Cured Stage 4 Cancer in Two Weeks For Less Than The Cost Of A Night At The Movies
This is an article of a co-HubPager
An amazing way to treat or cure cancer! Unbelievable but it seems to work with least cost and pain! I have lost a sister to colon cancer in 2000 and I just wish that this article could have been available before! It is very interesting as it only involves Habanero Peppers, Garlic and Ginger.
This would be some of the benefits of writing online as articles such as this are not available in hard copy or even medical journals. Whatever this article shares it would not hurt or cause damage, more so, cost a fortune! Please click on the title to read more . . .

My Article was Plagiarized

This is the first time I have experienced this - a top article I posted at Helium was plagiarized. I should have posted this on the day I have received this email but I was hesitant because when I checked the URL at AssciatedContent it can no longer be viewed. My hats off to AC to quickly recognize my article that was plagiarized on their site. It would have been nice if they identified the person who did it so online writers would be aware. It is difficult to write good articles that would land on the top 25% of the category and I really felt bad for someone to plagiarize my article for the purpose of earning from it.
Below is the email sent to me by the concerned person who found my article to have been plagiarized. It was emailed to me last October 30, 2008.

FanBox Social Site

It was puzzling that there were days when our PC monitor would flicker or go off and on in the past month. We had done all possible to clean our system but it still happens. Just today, October 27, 2008, I was checking on my emails for those coming from social sites where I am a member or an affiliate. It was the FanBox site that I was checking on when suddenly my monitor started to go Off and On again! I was reading one of the fan mails when I saw a comment by one saying that fan invitations are actually not real people. He says that those are webcam scammers. Their mails include a Yahoo ID or other chat sites.
For those who are members of Fanbox desktop applications, please beware of installing them. It might have a remote access to your webcam and they could take photos from it. I am glad that my webcam is no longer working. There is no way to delete an account at FanBox. I have just categorized it as spam mail to avoid opening mails or invites from it again.

I have helped a lot of stalled friends vehicles and they were amazed at things that I have in my car and in my mind. The things are practical and will have many purposes to serve, just in case. Importance of Discussions with Friends

Importance of Discussions with Friends
Forging closer friendships is what makes discussions with friends important. Loners are the only people who hardly have friends because they don't want to discuss with people. Atmospheres of discussion with willingness to share are what interest me when discussing with friends that make it important. Why? It is the exchange of ideas, experience and opinions that make one learn from healthy discussions. The truth is I take it to be a valuable learning system. It's like group discussions, right? Best Car Tires Choice

Best Car Tires Choice:
"The best tires for a vehicle always depend on the kind of road you drive your car on frequently. Also on the conditions of the road if it is frequently under rain, snow or muddy states. If frequently driving on unpaved roads with gravel, sand or plain soil, cross-country or off-road tires would be a better option." To read more on the article, please CLICK on the title.

Online Shoppers' Wiki!

This would be a good one for online shoppers. It could be the largest shopping mall online! Being quite dependent on wiki sites online, I came across this shopwiki com. Curious, I went to the shopping directory right away to see what's in the site. Well, what do you know? A very organized page laid out in front of you! It's a virtual huge shopping mall online! The directory is a guide where to go to and find what you're looking for. I did some "window shopping" - well many of us do that in real malls! In window shopping, computer and software shops are my first choices to update myself on what's new. Better yet I wanted to see what's new with monitors because I am having some problems with my monitor right now. It is really amazing how organized and easy it was to navigate. From general category down to the specific page for monitors was exceptional. The page described all the types of monitors, the specifications, factors to consider, sizes, shapes and price ranges! That also goes with recommended brands and monitor manufacturers. Now I know more about monitors and why our a little over 1 year old monitor is defective.

There are also guides for gifts and categorized by occasions like holidays, recipients and even seasonal gift guides. Okay, so I had to look around again for things that would interest me. Arts and crafts seemed like a nice place to go window shopping online. There were 16 categories to choose from on that page. Rubber stamping caught my attention because I never thought it to be an art or a craft. Another is, I have always done trying to carve rubber stamps in the past but I never got contented with the results. Shopwiki.com might just help me on this and give better ideas. Lo and behold! It truly is an art and a craft! What I always had mind were rubber stamps used in business and offices. This is really something new for me and I hope to go back and learn more about it. It's so large for an online shopping mall that it would probably take takes to find out more of what's inside. Just like window shopping in large real life malls.

Good Drug Counselor
There is a clear advantage of drug counselors who have experienced the use over those who have not experienced it and just in the business of drug counseling. I don't think so. To READ MORE please click on the title for the full article. Thanks.

Site Reviewers

It is sad to find out that even on the internet there are racists or biased people who could not shut their minds and fingers. This blog has been reviewed around 140 times. There were those who found some defects on my articles but they gave good advise and constructive criticism, and I appreciate them very much.
The other day, one review made on this blog surprised me. This was her review:

"Personal blog with no apparent focus. I would suggest narrowing the range of what is posted in order to engage the reader's attention. It's hard to make sense of some of the writing, perhaps because the blogger may not think primarily in English."

This is not a personal blog so what focus is she talking about? It is clearly stated on the traffic/review site, it is a blog with a variety of topics. Outright, the suggestion of narrowing the range of what is being posted was way out of line. Then makes a discriminatory comment about the blogger not thinking primarily in English, making it the reason why she could hardly make sense on some of the articles. That is the problem with some people who make reviews, comments or responses. They read but fail to understand. That is also one reason why I got out of myLot.com because there were several responses made on my posts that were really way off and some even insulting.

Here's one review that's constructive:

"The site makes a GREAT effort - but falls a little short in the "interesting" category. Here are some tips: 1)Your sidebars are boring - look for ways to highlight the Category Names so they stand out. 2)Too much text, not enough graphics - it doesn't matter where you get them - just include more images. This is 2008 - people expect variety. It's the spice of life. 3)When you write you intro paragraphs and then ask people to 'click here' to read the rest of the story - you need to tell the best part of the story and then say "click here to see the rest". The way you have it as a summary is, again, too dull. Good website - you just need some SPICE. Search other blogs for things that look interesting to you and include them in your blog. Good Luck.."

Here's an appreciative one:

"Good universal information from the Philippines. The well-written blogs are very relevant to the site's title and I felt I gained a little more knowledge reading your site. Keep up the good work.."

You could get to the websites of the well-meaning reviewers by clicking on the links. Thanks.

Pay Processors

Pay processors like PayPal, AlertPay, SafePay Solutions, MoneyBookers etcetera never gave me problems logging in to my accounts there. It is only with e-gold that I am having problems logging in to or accessing my account on most occasions! Whenever I would be able to log in, it would only be so if their system sends a PIN to my email address. It was very rare that I would be able to access my account directly on their portal.
About a year ago, I was totally denied access to my account. They informed me that my IP address was invalid! The question is, how could it be invalid when it was the same IP address I have been using since opening an account with them? They did not allow me to access my account until I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (B.B.B.). In a short time, I was able to access my account again with the same IP address.
This time they are at it again! Their response was in less than 24 hours and asked me to check on two sites my IP address and the blocking issue on it. The IP address they were claiming to be blocked is different from what showed. With spamhaus.org, it says that the IP address is not on their blocked list!

Increase in Prices

Increase in Prices
Complaining about price increases? Then, stop demanding for salary increases! The company you work for will need to increase prices to cover salary increases and benefits given to their employees. It comes to a point that salary increases can not be made proportional to price increase of commodities or services. Overall simple lifestyle for everybody can prevent price increases. It might be difficult to adapt to a much simpler lifestyle at first, but the results could benefit many after. Improvement, leisure and development are the culprits involved in price increases! The point redounds back to us, we want more - we ask for increase. The promotions and advertising of commodities or services creates demand. Price will increase when demand is high and supply is low, or, they make artificial shortage for bigger profits. Read more on this . . . please CLICK on the title. Thank you!

HubPages at Linkreferral

HubPages at Linkreferral

Linkreferral is a site where I get good quality traffic and hits for three of my sites. Out of curiosity, I searched to visit sites with the keyword "hubpages". There were a total of 30 HubPage URLs registered at linkreferral including mine. Most were profiles or a hub. It's only my hubpage there that is a referral or sign up URL link. Some though are no longer published. In visiting those hubpages, I practically read every one of them, commented on a couple and rated almost all. It was almost as convenient to be reading at linkreferral as it is at hubpages. The benefit for those hubs I visited there is getting hits and increased views.

What I do with my URL there is substitute the hub title for my articles that do not get much viewing here or from other links. With the exposure at linkreferral, the hubscores show increase in visits by almost two arrows, combined with the other links! I have not noted yet if it contributes to my earnings at Adsense.

Linkreferral is a site that provides good traffic to websites. I have been with them for almost 2 years now and has helped one of my sites to get pagerank 2. Well, now it does not have that rank anymore because I believe Google did some changes on pageranking. It is free to sign up and join that traffic site. In exchange for the reviews and traffic your website gets, you only need to visit 30 sites for at least 6 seconds per site. You can also make reviews on other sites but this will be for only 5 websites every 24 hours. You are not bound to make visits and reviews everyday. It is at your option should you want to have your website to always at the top 10 rankings under its category.

Reckless driving: Who taught these people how to drive?

Reckless driving is not taught but an offshoot of how one operates a vehicle because of mental attitude or temperament. Those drivers would have not passed licensing tests and exams if they really drove that way.

In the more than 35 years of driving in all sorts of roads, traffic and terrain, I could have already encountered all types of drivers. We live in an Asian country that has been criticized for its drivers and traffic situation. We were once in the top 10 worst countries of drivers in a Reader's Digest issue. I believe that no one was taught to drive was told to be reckless. They have to pass driving tests and examinations, so how would they pass them if they were taught to drive recklessly? Reckless and careless drivers come out of their attitude and mentality. Also those short in temper come out to be reckless. It is only in our country where I know where there were some drivers who shoot fatally other drivers just because of parking or traffic issues.

In the remote mountainous areas where I used to drive at least once a month, when I was in my late twenties, drivers of all types of vehicles are very courteous. Many of the roads there could not accommodate two small cars side by side. So when a vehicle is going uphill, the driver going downhill looks for a wide space on the road and pauses there alongside the cliff until the vehicle going up passes him. The city we live in is a "mixing bowl" of different people from different provinces and their influx has increased the number of discourteous and reckless drivers. Still, I would not concur that they were taught to drive that way. The demands of time and traffic have caused a good number of drivers to drive that way.

Another of my responses to a request on HubPages. This is something for real and can not be just ignored. Emotional freedom is difficult to achieve if personal biases and partiality exist that were influenced during childhood, growing-up and work experiences. This could even be related to the emotion of fear on which I also have an article about it.

What are proven ways to make extra money online?

What are proven ways to make extra money online?
There are ways to earn good online but many of them are only through invitation and hardly find them advertised on the internet.
One that I have been for over a year now pays for blog advertisements and they were consistent until they were probably also affected by the economy in the past 3 months. On average, I have earned close to a hundred dollars a month, prior to that. Another site I am with has also been consistent since I activated my account there last December 2007. I only need to concentrate on that site 4 or 5 times a month and the average income I get is around thirty-five dollars a month. These sites do not require referrals or downline. Gmail Problems

Gmail Problems
After just a few years Gmail has become Goofmail. Probably Goofgle will will be an appropriate change of name. The problem of putting all my "email eggs in one basket" has paid its toll. It is with much regret that blogspot is a Google account which might just cut this blog one of these days like it did on accessing my gmail accounts.
No, not any of my accounts is involved in spam mail.
The pop-up "application/octet-stream" comes up whenever I try to access goofmail, oh sorry, gmail. could not be read or recognized by Windows. Please read the entirety of my article at HubPages, just click on the title above. Thank you.
N.B.
After posting this and looking for further remedies to access my emails at gmail, suddenly I was able to access gmail and get into my emails. I don't even know if the google web accelerator that I downloaded helped. If ever it was the issue gmail should have informed all their users of gmail.

Link Back Project

This is a simple procedure. You might have seen it done elsewhere on a few scarce weblogs. What is different, is that when we reach a certain point on the list, we start yet another one. Instead of one master list and its done, we will repeat the process over and over again, with new folks jumping on board. These backlinks combined with the social networking friends status will affect all areas of search engine algorithims. -=This List Will Stop At 100, then the next phase (list) will start=-

To participate is simple:

--->Copy The Post & List below into a blog post of yours.
--->Add Your Link to the list at the bottom.
--->Comment On the original post at LBP so that I can update the list with your link.
--->Make sure the list links and names are in place on your weblog post.
--->Digg, Stumble, Tag, and Reddit all of us, spread the word, get more on board.
--->Be sure to send them back to The Linkback Project for the updated list.

Make sure links and name are in place on your weblog, and then put yours on the last number, and "YOUR NEXT" below it on a new number.

Be sure to Digg, Stumble Upon, and Tag this post, so that you will be prepared with backlinks for Phase two, when we begin backlinks in Social Networking. Putting each list into the social networking system will be the second link in our "Closed Circuit" theory of search engine/link index exposure.

Entitled to My Own Interpretation

Entitled to My Own Interpretation
This is maybe a playful imagination of my mind. But, the possibilities of it to have happened is there! We could not even discount the possibility of extra-terrestrial involvement in this! The article is not anti-religion and is only a speculation on how it might or could have been in the ancient past. In ancient times, they were not aware of drug influencing plants or food that could alter and affect human thinking or rationalization. Please read only more of this if you keep an open mind about the topic.

Trivia: Moon is Moving Away

Who ever imagined that the Moon is moving away from Earth? I never thought so until I watched the TV documentary on The History Channel! The Moon is moving away from Earth at the rate of 1 to 2 inches every year! Earths' "gravity" is losing grip of the Moon and would eventually stray off its' orbit and wander in space.
Scientists in the documentary attribute this to the speed of Earth rotating 360 degrees on its axis in only 24 hours while the Moon is a lot slower taking it a month to circle the earth. The speed of Earth is sort "throwing off" the moon from its orbit. It was also mentioned that the earths' oceans have a big role on this.
The scientists, however, gave their assurance not to worry. If I got it right, it will only happen after 50 Billion years. The sun will will even fizzle off earlier and that will be after 10 Billion years.

Admin & Support Misgivings

Admin & Support Misgivings
Disgusting admin and customer support! Some even don't know their own product, policy or guidelines. Some even hide their mistakes or errors from management. If they can't solve your issue, they will stop responding to your inquiries just to save their ass. They will wait until you get tired of communicating with them and just forget about it! Sure I got tired and tried to forget about it. Now I wrote and posted about it! The internet is mightier than inefficient websites, admin and support staff!

What Toyota and/or Honda vehicles are comparable to a Nissan Versa, and what are some pros and cons of each vehicle?

This is an entry at my HubPages in response to a hub request. The opinion and remarks here are purely based on my personal experience and those of relatives and friends.

Have you ever had a NDE near death experience ?

Have you ever had a NDE near death experience ?
This article was in response to a request at HubPages. Some might say the experience I had was not an NDE. Is it because I did not see bright lights, angels, go into a vortex or no feeling of separation from the body? To read more and find out why I did not experience what others might have experienced as NDE, please click on the title above for the full text.

Part 2: Insignificant Items

Part 2: Insignificant Items
Things I was able to make out of the "Insignificant Items" that I save and keep. This is a sequel to that earlier post I made. I tried my best to describe what I used and how I "created" these things. The things I made out of what I kept and saved are serving us right for the purpose. The article at HubPages have photos of the things I have made. It is quite a difficult to task to post something with photos and description. Please bear with me and just click on the title above to read and view more on the article.
The photo shown here, from the top, the first three are a hook then two large sewing needles made from discarded umbrella wire frames. The next two below are cutters I fashioned out of broken hacksaw blades.

People Who Read Online

People Who Read Online
I have classified here the types of people who write and read online. Some just fail to understand what they read and make a nasty comment. They do not know that it is quite easy to trace them now. You could report them as offensive once their location has been pinpointed, especially if they are grossly offensive and insinuating insults online. This is a short article but those interested to read more, find out the location of those who made negative or insinuating an insult.

Real Causes of Flooding

Real Causes of Flooding
Many of us has experienced flooding from heavy rainfall in one way or another. My article on this was a result of experience, keen observation, analysis and testing. What they teach and preach lack the correct details on what causes flooding. They blame it on deforestation and trash but the details are misleading. The article details the facts of flooding in cities. There is a simple way to test my contention in the article. It is very easy to do and not costly. Read the article on my post at HubPages to know the reality.

N.B.
In most times, I try my best to avoid writing articles such as this. What I wrote here are simple observation and analysis. There might be some words that are not commonly used but still they are understandable. It is not even a phenomena what I am trying to impart here. It was a simple case of delaying the flow of water to give enough time for it to properly drain off, to prevent flooding. It is not even a case of engineering where you will need complicated formulas to solve it. Why? Because rainfall volume and length of downpour are not always the same.
The point in this post can more easily be illustrated with filling a pail from a faucet that has a small leak. If you open a faucet just dripping it will take time to fill the pail if ever it will be. Open the the faucet in full and it will fill up the pail in a short time and cause it to over flow.
There are people who read to be entertained and others to understand. Rarely both, I think. I know most of my posts here are more for entertaining rather than something like this that needs understanding. That is also the reason why I post lengthier articles at my HubPages.

Beer

Beer drinking has been a part of me ever since I stepped into college decades back. That would be a little over 3 decades. Thirty years? More, to be exact 38 years ago. It's only now I realize it's almost 4 decades, hahaha. . . , well, well, what do you know? Never really thought much about it anyway.
I was going over some sites where I post articles when I came across a title "
Beer: How to get the most flavor from beer". Curiosity took me to read it. All the while, I thought it was how to brew beer at home. It says on the article that it is not completely true the you get the best flavor from beer by drinking it straight out from the bottle! That was what I was made to believe by some elders before! Maybe, it could be true for the number one beer in our country the Philippines, San Miguel Beer Pale Pilsen. The truth is, I really get to taste the flavor more drinking it from the bottle, cold but not almost freezing cold.
It was really interesting to read the article because the author is a beer connoisseur and has a web site dedicated to beer. He mentioned the different kinds of beers and the glasses to be used. It is unfortunate for us in our country not to have those brands or types of beer he mentioned. There might be some in specialty stores but they would definitely cost an arm and a limb. Quite sure, there are a lot of beer drinkers surfing the net and it would be nice to blog about that web site.

Gas Flares at oil refineries waste an enormous amount of energy. Why can't this gas be used more productively?

Gas Flares at oil refineries waste an enormous amount of energy. Why can't this gas be used more productively?
This was a Hub request that I responded to at HubPages. Please click on the title above to read my answer. Actually, what I know is there should be no gas flares being done at oil refineries. It is only being done after a new oil well has been drilled. But after the person who requested the answer and gave me a link, there are really gas flares made in refineries! It costs billions of dollars and it is just going up in smoke polluting the globe. The link site explained that refineries has to do that to relieve pressure to avoid the danger of explosion.

D-I-Y Car Body Repairs

D-I-Y Car Body Repairs
This one is for those who would want to do their own minor car body repairs to save money. It is actually simple and easy as long as you have the time and patience to carefully follow the procedure. Your first time to do it might cost a little more than ordinary. It happened to me and I treated it as my "tuition fee" in learning the trade and an investment when I operated an auto repair shop in the 1980s. Please click on the title above to get to my article at HubPages, as this is a one-and-half page instruction. Thanks!

Earthquake Memories

Earthquake Memories
This is about the July 16, 1990 Earthquake that hit our city with an intensity of 7.6 on the Richter Scale. Some say it was more, some say it was less. Some say it lasted only about 45 seconds but for me a minute would be closer. Less than that, I would not recall much of the events. The longer an experience is the more is stored in the human brain. Anyway, this is my personal account and involved many others surrounding us at that frame of time. The article is quite long and this just an excerpt of my narration. Please click on the title above to read more on my HubPages. Thanks!

Car Paint & Repainting

Car Paint & Repainting
Did you ever wonder why your car's paint on the roof and deck lids are always the first to suffer damage? The damage starts as very small cracks that become larger as time passes by. This means the paint starts to get brittle, losing its flexibility and elasticity. The painted parts of a car are not equally exposed to elements that cause paint wear, damage or deterioration. So for those of you who have cars, whether your paint is still new or want to have it repainted, please click on the title above where my full-length article is posted. The article will help prolong the life of your car's body paint.
FYI, I operated an auto repair shop specializing in repainting and body repairs in the '80s. I also do those jobs then but not so actively now.

The Problem with People

The problem with people is about wanting to live longer and control population. So what happened? They were quite successful to make life longer. However, they got worried when population explosion came. People around the world were reproducing faster than people were dying. Those alive want to live longer but did not want the world to be over populated. As they were living longer and could not be killed, except to wait for their time, they opted to control birthrate. Medicine has advanced that people are surviving from illness thus retaining a good percentage of the population. Those who could not afford to get proper treatment or protection are, unfortunately, the first ones to go.

If the trend will go on with science and technology able to make people live longer, the world might have a population with much older people. When that happens new births will be prevented more to make way for the old. Older people need attention and care. Will it happen in the future that the young just tend to the older people because there are more of them? If the younger people will have to attend to them, what will happen to production and commerce? The world is being made a safer place, that means there could be lesser deaths in the future. People could live as old as 100 years or more. So they are living longer, but will that be good for society? Young people contribute to society. With their youth comes good mental and physical health. That is what aged people will lose. This reminds me of my father saying about work when he got old, "the mind is willing but the body can not".

How many hours do you sleep?

This post was actually triggered when I realized how old I was getting. I tried to imagine what I did in the past 54 years I have been on earth. From 0 to probably 10 or 12, most of what I did was play, go to school starting at age 5, eat and sleep. From 13 to 20, engaged in many sports, learn to drive and drive starting at age 16, eat and sleep. Then age 20 and onwards, still play some sports, work, drink, smoke, go on dates, sex, get married at age 28, have four children, eat and sleep. That's what I've been doing for twenty four (24) hours a day for the past years.

Then I remembered a TV ad about beds. The commercial said, while the bed was on screen, "this is where you spend one-third (1/3) of your life"! Now, is that not true? A good sleep usually is for eight (8) hours, especially for children and the young. More than that for babies and toddlers. Maybe an average of six (6) hours when we get older. So overall, I might have really slept an average of 8 hours a day! Here comes the amazing part. I will be 54 years old next month. Divide 54 by 3 we come up with 18. That's one-third of my life, 18 years! It's hard to believe that I have been sleeping for an aggregate total of 18 years!

Quite sure of this, you'll be calculating how many years you have slept after reading this. Now don't be regretful that you have slept for so many years. Also, don't try cutting down down on sleep. We need those sleeping hours to be able to stay awake and do what we need to do. As a consolation, I may be old in age but honestly I still feel young. That's what sleeping for 18 years could have done for me.

Success Motivation

Success Motivation
Motivation speakers in 1980s did not have much ground to gain because it is not even possible to have one financially wealthy person for every 10. A financially wealthy person will need the services of so many people even he does not run a corporation. Bank employees, carpenter, mason, electrician, painter, garbage collector, street cleaners, clothes sewers, livestock tenders, farmers, postman, fireman, policeman, etcetera.
My experience being an associate of a motivational speaker and how I came to realize all these can be read on my lengthier article at HubPages. Please click on the title above should you want to read about it. Thanks!

Cruelty to Animals

For quite some time, I have been asking why there are so many organizations that are against cruelty to animals. This is one “blog” I posted in one of the social networks I am with and there were three who commented agreeing to my thoughts. The focus of these organizations is cruelty or abuse made by man on pets or wild animals. What about the cruelty of man who have domesticated animals, breed them, keep them confined then mass slaughter them for commercial purposes? Is that not more cruel?

Let’s take animals in the wild that would be hunted for food. They have a better chance of survival than those domesticated animals, propagated, then mass slaughtered for gain and profit. If these organizations against cruelty to animals are true to themselves, then they should consider this! Of course, there are people who are sadistic and find satisfaction in hurting or slaying animals, they should be the focus of these organizations.

By the way, a friend messaged me on the blog post I mentioned had this to say, and I quote, “So, what do you want to happen? Free all those domesticated animals that are being used for food?” Simply, I replied to him that he was not looking at the right direction. I asked him, would it not be better if these organizations against cruelty to animals refined their views? We have to accept that domesticated animals for human consumption have to be treated that way. There’s no better alternative with the present situation in this world. The organizations are also very critical of those who pit animals against each other in battle. I have been into cockfighting for a couple of years in the past and I have observed that these roosters will have easily dominated breeding in the wild. If they are left free ranged, they will do nothing but fight to their last breath! They are not being trained to fight. That is their nature, to fight! Maybe I would still be into cockfighting had it not been for the gambling side of it and unnecessary use of blades. The sport could be made into something like boxing. The use of gloves that could mark on the bodies of the protagonists will count as scores! Pitting of these roosters for one round could last, utmost, for three minutes. No real harm done as their fight was controlled and not to the extent of their desire to maim, injure or slay their opponent. These breeds hardly “chicken-out” of a fight.

Well, before I go off topic, it is still my firm belief that organizations against cruelty to animals should define their parameters better. There were people who were sued or imprisoned without the real intention of being cruel or abusing an animal. There were many episodes in the TV Channel, Animal Planet where the people were not intentionally being cruel to or abused animals. There were those who simply did not have the means to provide sufficient care.

Good Serving Car
A car I never expected to serve us for 17 years through many tough and troubled times. It gave a sentimental value of all of that until the time I had to sell it in July 2007. I have never felt so attached to anything material or thing except for this car. For full length of the article please click on the title above where it will to my HubPages post. Thanks.

It's a Wonder why
This is quite a lengthy article and to keep the size of my contents here standard, I post longer ones at my HubPages directly linked here.
It is really amazing how I come to think of things like these. About human health and diseases, and why do most, if not all animals not suffer from them. After reading this, you will really wonder why! If I may suggest, try to imagine some of it while reading. I'm quite sure some of you will find it funny and something to laugh at or find it a topic to talk about with your friends. Please click on title above to get to the article. Thanks!

Understanding What's Online

Understanding What's Online

My latest entry in Hubpages that tells on how to differentiate those physically existing businesses with web sites as against those who have just established their business online. A good percentage of the online businesses will not have any physical assets but could have liabilities especially to those who have worked with them online. The experience I had with a web hosting company and quite a good number of years online will bear me out here. Please click on the title above to read the entire post at my HubPages. Thanks.

Our Feet and Shoes

To some, it will be unbelievable if I said that I hardly buy new shoes for myself. Why? Old shoes, especially those with genuine leather, are more comfortable when they have adjusted to your feet. That’s why I have old shoes re-soled to get more comfort and mileage out of them. Insoles could also be replaced. Hardly satisfied with those on display in shoe stores and malls, curiosity made look at some online. One is Blowfish Shoes. Their designs are nicely simple and look comfortable for our feet. There are only a few pairs that show on the site but it is suggestive to look for their brand at several of their retailers that could be near you, like Macys or DSW. It is sad to note though that this brand is available in only a few select countries.

Our feet do many, if not most, of the work for us everyday. They are our most reliable means of getting us from one place to another. We owe a lot to our feet. The amazing thing with Blowfish Shoes shown on the site is you would not find them with high heels. Many of us will agree that flat soled shoes are more comfortable to our feet than those with heels or high heels. Even the Blowfish Men’s Shoes under the category of boots, only a few have heels not even really high.

Also, it is a wonder why shoe stores do not have a section for flat-soled shoes. We find sections for sandals, boots, high heels and athletic shoes. There are sections for moccasins but a good number of them have wedge-like soles. It’s been rare for me to find those that have true flat soles. Women love caring or tending to their feet than men. They will definitely love those Blowfish Women’s Shoes! I still have to hear or know of a man going to a foot spa. There are some men who have their toes with pedicure! That makes me cringe! On the other hand, maybe that’s how much they love and care for their feet.

The Cashew Nut

The cashew nut is one of my favorite nuts because it tastes so delicious for me. It was not until I saw the actual plant with its fruit in my early teens that I realized so much about the cashew. First, it is not a nut but a seed. Second, the seed is not inside the fruit! The seed is outside the fruit clinging to the larger end. Third, the fruit also really tastes good but beware. It is so acidic that it would give a good burn around your lips once you bite into it. It happened to me because I was told first that the fruit tasted good but the warning came in too late after I had sank my teeth into the cashew fruit. Maybe the guys around me wanted me to experience it. The burning sensation around my lips was tolerable probably because of my high level of tolerance.
If I remember right, the cashew tree does not grow very tall or large. Those that I saw were just growing along road sides. Maybe, the height is around 8 feet and the trunk would be the size of an average human thigh. I am not sure though if those trees were still young.

Of Dolphins and Sharks

Of Dolphins and Sharks

Online Lotto

NOTICE: This post is being rectified by this notice because thefreeweeklylotto.com operated by msmedianetwork.com under MultipleMediaStream has failed to pay my winning. This is after almost 2 months of communicating with them. Their email communication of my winning was delayed by more than 1 week and now they they say that I did not claim it within the 1 week period. I have submitted a ticket to them giving proof that the delay was not my fault but on their end. Waiting for a week on their response, there was none. Looking up the ticket, their system says that my Ticket does not exist! I also have a proof that they received the ticket through a confirmation email coming from them. It is with much apology if the post I made here has misled some who might have signed up with them. I have submitted another ticket requesting them to clarify the matter before I file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (B.B.B.)

Many of the online gaming such as casinos and lottos seem to be scam to me. There are some PTC and PTR sites that also have gaming on their sites. It was there where I tried these games. I am not really a gaming or gambling person but I was curious how it will go. Anyway, the bets placed there are either points I have earned or a minimum of one cent from my earnings.
One I tried for one-cent bets is the flip coin game, Heads or Tails. If I remember right, I played it for almost one hour. It was a case of win some - lose some. Sometimes it will give you a string of wins then a succession of losses. In the end, I think I lost around ten cents. Nothing much but at least it was a ten-cent of actually experiencing online gaming. The other I tried, now for my point earnings, was the "Guess-where-the-object-is". Three cups that would cover a coin or a stone and once you place your bet in points, it will shuffle the cups then let you guess. Winnings are equivalent to what you bet. I was luckier here and ended up with 70 points more on my account. I use those points in exchange for advertisement of my web sites.
The most surprising for me was the free online lotto. It operates in almost a similar way with the PTC and PTR sites. I think when I started more than 6 months ago, I was first given around 10 opportunities to select 6 numbers out of 49. In exchange of each opportunity, I would have to view an advertisement for 30 seconds. And, for every ad that I view, I am also given a point for it. If I can accumulate 500 points I can exchange it also for advertising my web site. Playing the lotto is only once a week, so really not much trouble. The draws of the lotto is also once a week, every Thursday. For every three correct numbers entitles a player for an extra lotto ticket for the following week. In the past 2 or 3 months, I have been entitled between 20 to 35 tickets each week. I believe I have already earned more than 500 points too but haven't availed of it for advertisements. The best of all was when I received an email a couple of days ago, saying that I had 5 correct numbers making me win $100.00! If I got the 6 correct numbers that would mean $5,000.00 which will be paid in 10 months at $500.00 per month. I am glad to be in this non-scam gaming site.

Dreams & Fantasies

Dreams & Fantasies
Realizing it only after reaching the age of 54, it was only then that I learned the true meaning of having a dream. As far as I can remember, it was in school where I heard it first. Have a dream so you can achieve you goals in life. However, none of those who I heard it from bothered to explain it in a more understandable or meaningful way. All the while, I thought what they were saying was having a dream the way others would have their dreams.

Are fantasies, dreams or not? The way I looked at it was , fantasies were impossible, or close to impossible of achieving. I drew a line between fantasy and dream. For me, dreams are something more realistic and achievable. Fantasies, on the other hand, were the impossible dreams. It could have been the reason why I was mediocre in life. I get easily contented when I reach or achieve a certain level or degree of a dream. It did not have anything to do with my fantasies, as I thought so. It was on this stage of my life that I realized that my fantasies were actually were achievable dreams. That was so stupid of me! My fantasies, as I had it my mind, were not achievable. If they were in other peoples' mind, I am quite sure that they would be realizable dreams and not fantasies.

Our Ground Orchid

Our Ground Orchid
This ground orchid has been with my mother since the mid-1970s until she handed it down to me in the mid-1980s. I had fancied the plant because of its beautiful flower that comes only once a year. The size of the flower is about 6 inches in diameter. It looks like a knitted ball all around. It is formed actually by smaller flowers with thread-like petals that precisely overlap each other at their tips. There could be a hundred or more of those smaller flowers. Truth is, I have not then asked my mom the name of the plant. I learned it to be a ground orchid from a friend after I described it to him.

Also, it has made me wonder why it totally vanishes from the surface of the ground a few months after the flower and its stem-leaves have wilted. If I am not mistaken that would be the characteristics of weeds, right? Anyway, I haven't dared cut it down like a weed to find it out for myself.

The ground orchid is not very dependent on human care and attention. I only water it and rarely put a little fertilizer as a precaution. It would sprout out from the ground, grow, bloom, wilt and then totally vanish from the surface of the pot on its own. There was a time though, about 3 to 4 years back, when it did not produce any flower. I concluded then that it might be nearing the end of its life span. On the years after however, its flower again bloomed.

For the ground orchid’s reproduction or propagation, it did have two or three smaller ones that started to sprout out alongside the main plant about 10 years ago. They were not however as consistent every year. I was scared of transplanting them to another pot because they might be part or dependent on the mother plant. Should those smaller ones crop up again this year, I might have the courage to try and transplant them.

Classified Searching

For the number of years that I have been going online on the internet, most searches or surfs I have made came up with very general results in nature. Any search I make would link to thousands as long as the word or phrase contains it. That goes for jobs, movies, reviews, real estate, and etcetera. Recently I came across web sites that offer Free Classifieds. I never thought that something like that was available online. All I knew of were traffic sites that give or offer free classified ads in exchange for surfing their ads.
One of the web sites I have encountered has a list of 26 major cities in the United States that offer specific searches on Personals, Jobs, Movie Lists, Restaurant reviews and Real Estate. So, for example, you live or want to go to Phoenix, Arizona and want to do searches on the mentioned listed categories, you conveniently and easily find a link to them on that page. Those near the vicinity of Phoenix or would want to relocate there, this web site should be one of the priority sites to search on.
Not only that, you also will find a large offer that says, “Post a Free Classified” near the top of the homepage! That means if you have general items for sale, vehicles or services wanted or being offered, you can post it there for free! Those are the benefits of web sites that provide specific searches and categories online with free classified ads. In all probability, the web site would be adding more cities within the United States to appeal to people in those locations. It’s nice to check it out especially if one lives nearby in any of those cities.

Intel Dual Core & Windows XP Problems

After the first 4 months, our brand new PC started to have problems. It started showing black screens then blue screens. It was dying in such a short time! Being under warranty, we brought it back to the shop where we purchased it. We and the technicians thought it needed reformatting and re-installation of the Windows XP and other softwares. The technician said it would take at least four hours to do that. Before leaving, the case of the CPU was opened for cleaning. To our and the technician's surprise, the fan and heat sink of the Pentium accumulated very thick dust compressed on the heat sink fins! In short, it did not have enough cooling causing the computer to go bonkers!
Then again, some time in December of 2007, the computer started to hang or just freeze in the middle of surfing or viewing on the internet. I needed to re-start whenever it happens. With the proliferation of viruses, malware, spyware and adware, I always scanned the PC three or more times a week with antivirus, anti-spyware and registry mechanic. Seeing a good number of viruses detected by the anti-virus, it may be the cause of those 'hanging' problems. The problems persisted though even after scanning and defragmenting. All of us in the family using the computer are experiencing the same thing until it became unbearable a couple of weeks ago. I even suspected that it was the online game downloaded by my son which had frequent trojans. The PC started to show black screens again and warning of possible issues. The NVIDIA graphics and video card started also to have problems. It was not able to balance display colors, 3D and video settings any more! Re-starting the computer almost every 30 minutes became a pain in the neck. I even complained to some web sites that my PC hangs whenever I get to their sites. I never realized that it was my faltering graphics and video card that was causing it! Who would have thought that, anyway?

Graduation

Last March 30, 2008 was my only daughter's graduation from Nursing. Watching the commencement rites, my mind worked back 33 years ago when I too graduated with a Bachelors Science in Commerce. Then, it was said it was difficult to find a good paying job if one did have a course in Engineering, Architecture, Medicine or Accountancy. My major was in Management with Marketing as minor. I was either lucky or it was a blessing in disguise because no one ever imagined that the dawn of sales and marketing was coming. We did not even have calculators then in 1975 to help us out in school math subjects. Computer was still very crude when we took a subject in college. They were just computers that punch out holes on cards!
After graduation in October of 1975, I was fortunate to have been absorbed as a regular employee in the bank I was working with, as a part-timer since I was on my fourth year in college. Our instructors never gave us any idea on what they knew about the future of the course we were taking. I believe, this is what instructors should know, to foster more interest from their students.
My daughter took up Nursing because, at the moment, there is a trend for a demand of it abroad and the pay is good, if not better, than taking other courses. In our third world country, there were quite a good number of physicians or doctors who took up nursing because of the promise of excellent pay abroad! In the 1980s, the trend of students in college was to take up Electronics Engineering or Information Technology (IT) because computers and other devices were getting to be high-tech. In the 1990s, trend was more on taking a course on Physical Therapy (PT), as the demand was there. In the late 1990s and early 2000, the trend was taking up a course in care-giving.
Going back to the present time, my mind toyed about the trend for demand on Nurses. It comforted me somehow that health is an ongoing concern throughout the globe. The population is almost growing exponentially and new diseases are coming up just about anywhere. The question in my mind after all that, is, when will the world have a surplus of nurses that demand will start to slow down? For computer technology, there are many undergraduates who have self-learned the trade. What specialty would be next to have a good demand for those will be getting into college in the future?

Engine Oil Correct Use

Motor oil in vehicles play a big role in keeping an engine operating under the right temperatures. The viscosity numbers will tell immediately the range of temperatures it should be ideally used. Lower numbers, especially those with a "W", means those are for extreme cold weather like winter which the "W" represents after the number. Normally, those in the cold regions where they have winter season, they use motor oils between "0" to 15 or 20 variable viscosity. The "0" means the oil will be in this viscosity during cold starts. The oil turns more viscous as the engine runs to operating temperatures on that weather condition. The lower viscosity allows for the engine to crank with ease under extreme cold weather. It follows, therefore, that in warmer climates or regions, motor oils being used range between the variable viscosity of 10 to 30 or 40. Engines that operate under higher temperatures should be using higher viscosity oils.

Another consideration to be noted when using motor oil is the letters that you find, sometimes before or after the viscosity numbers. Commonly, two letters that would either start with an “S” or a “C”. The letter “S” stands for spark combustion, meaning it is for vehicles that have Spark Plugs that make for spark combustion in Gasoline Engines. The letter “C” stands for Compression Combustion which is the case for Diesel Engines. Diesel engines do not have spark plugs but instead compresses air then injects diesel to initiate combustion. Why is there a distinction between gasoline and diesel engine motor oils? Generally, diesel engines run hotter and a little bit ‘dirtier’ than gasoline engine. Diesel engine motor oils have more ‘detergents’ or cleaning agents in them. So using gasoline engine motor oil for diesel engines is not advisable. You can only do this under emergency situations.

As for the letters after the first “S” or “C”, depends on the cleaning ability and protection ingredients with the motor oil. Usually, those with an “A” are the least, like SA or CA, has the least ingredients. Those with B, C, D, and the succeeding letters after, will mean having better cleaning and protection ingredients in them.

Hub Pages Posting

Writing is one of my main interests and I do several like this. There is a new one I got into and it is Hub Pages. It is like blogging but the difference is, it is not posted on a blog page or site. Your post has it's own URL with HubPages. With keywords , that is how readership is generated. There is also income from your work through Google Adsense. It is similar to one I was with a couple of years ago, writingup.com, but I believe it is no longer non-existent.
What is important in posting at HubPages will be the content. The content must be interesting with the proper keywords to generate readership from them. Of course there are the conventional ways of promoting your hub like posting the hub URL in social sites or other web sites that you have access to. I have started just a day ago and it seems to be good. If you're curious to find out about it please check it out here.

Math subjects in School

After seeing my children go through school from elementary to high school, I can't believe the math subjects they take up. I could not understand the formulas or equations that they are teaching. Basic algebra and geometry might be fine. In the more than 30 years I have been working or in business, I have never encountered anything more complicated than basic math and geometry. What I frequently encountered were conversions of weights, measures, volume and distances from non-metric to metric and vice-versa! Maybe what is being taught in math subjects now will be good only for those who will pursue engineering, computer science and other courses that need specialization in math. When I was in high school, I was quite good in geometry. I knew that angle measurements and computing for the areas of a triangle and other geometric figures will be encountered frequently in life. My interest in this subject did get me through the mechanical engineering course I was aiming for. For one thing, teachers or instructors still lack a system of relating the subject for future use and how often it will be needed. Doing this will help children get interested and learn. It should be something like, "If you know how to swim, then you would be able to save yourself or even other people having trouble in deep waters". But for a person like me, is scared of deep waters, I know how to swim just enough to save myself.

Biorhythm measures your Condition

Biorhythm is some sort of a measure of a person’s intellectual, emotional, physical, intuitions, aesthetics and other moods at a given date. This is determined by just giving the data of a person’s birth date. It is displayed best in curve graph showing the peaks and lows of those conditions and moods.

Recently, I was trying to make a search of biorhythm online but all I could find were sites that required subscription to provide you a complete graph that you request. Fortunately, I am a member of a social site, Facebook. This social site has so many applications that come along. Sometimes you feel like tiring out of using them because many do not have real good use. Most are just for entertainment online. A couple of weeks ago a friend sent an invitation for the Biotrend application. To my surprise and elation, it was exactly what I was looking for. A free source for biorhythm! What’s more nice with it is, you are provided with both your Western and Chinese zodiac signs, which I think, are the basis for the biorhythm graph projections. After typing in my birth date, the application quickly showed a graph of my biorhythm for the past two weeks and the next two weeks. The date I did the biorhythm is included in the projection. Two types of graphs will actually show, one bar graph and the other is the curve. My biorhythm for those days was very accurate. My emotions and physical conditions were really down and low. In relation to the past week’s events, there were really factors that affected my emotions and physical condition. We encountered a serious family problem. From that time on, I had frequented almost daily my Facebook site to check on my overall condition and mood. In that way, I was able to adjust to them properly, knowing in what state I am in.

The Chinese Zodiac

When I came to learn about the Chinese Zodiac signs, it seemed that it was more believable than the Western Zodiac, except for some observations difficult for me believe in. The Chinese Zodiac signs are as follows with the corresponding years they would fall or fall into:
  1. Rat - Born in 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008
  2. Ox - Born in 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009
  3. Tiger - Born in 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010
  4. Rabbit - Born in 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011
  5. Dragon - Born in 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012
  6. Snake - Born in 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013
  7. Horse - Born in 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954,1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014
  8. Sheep - Born in 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015
  9. Monkey - Born in 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016
  10. Rooster - Born in 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017
  11. Dog - Born in 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018
  12. Pig - Born in 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019
Then the numbers ending for each year has a corresponding element, and it would be as follows for the last digit of each year:
For years ending 0 to 1: Metal
; 2 to 3: Water; 4 to 5: Wood; 6 to 7: Fire and 8 to 9: Earth (reference: http://www.chinatownconnection.com/chinese_zodiac.htm)

What I have observed is all the 12 zodiac signs are animals, except for one where I have doubts, if it is or were a real animal, the Dragon. Some say there is the Komodo Dragon but I am not convinced that it is the kind of dragon most people have in mind. Many people who would see a Komodo dragon might still refer to it as a large lizard.
Another thing that aroused my curiosity is that a Chinese Zodiac birth year sign comes only every 12 years. Also for the element corresponding to the years ending digit comes on two consecutive years every 10 years! So if a person does not live until 9 years old, he or she does not get to the first anniversary of the element. The same thing with the Chinese Zodiac sign if a person does not live to the age of 12.
It is very amusing to read the legend about the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac sign and why the Rat is the first in the 12 year cycle with the Ox coming in second.
Asking a person's Chinese zodiac, if you know the years they fall on, would give a good idea on their age because of the 12 year cycle.

Why should Fear not be Conquered?

It's been told that we must need to conquer our fears. Maybe some fears, yes. But there are a lot fears we must not conquer. The fear of losing a loved ones, losing our job, losing money, losing things, our possessions, our life and many more! Why has this come to my mind?
About four years ago, I thought of conquering fear. I believed in the idea that fear made me not want to face realities in life! So, I just shunned fear! What happened was I did not fear anymore losing a job, a project, not making money and many dangers! In short, I did not even fear not doing anything to improve our life! It almost came to a point that I did not even fear losing the respect, trust and confidence of my wife and children. Thinking it over, life became boring and I practically became useless because I had no fear. I had to rekindle again some fear in me. I had to realize that, more will not be accomplished because I had no fear of it.
When I started to have some fears again, life became normal. I had to do something to improve our life because I feared to lose the respect of my family. I feared again that if any of us fell sick. It is the fear of losing loved ones, I believe, that stayed on me. It also came to my mind that well meaning people always say "Have Fear in God".

Can diet change cause some sickness?

Having read several articles and watched several documentaries on TV about human ailments not caused by virus or bacteria, a question came to mind. Why is it that animals, especially those in the wild, do not suffer from these kinds of ailments? Being an avid watcher of Discovery Channel and Animal Planet, it simply amazes me to watch animal living in the wilderness. They do not have artificial protection to rely on, on which many humans depend upon. They eat raw food drink water from streams, rivers, ponds and murky pools. They have such a strong immune system, that if were not for technology, far more advanced than ours. Their food and water sources have, in one way or another, been affected by pollution. Acid rain would have dropped on them!

Also, recently discovered aboriginal people are not susceptible to modern mans' diseases or ailments. I have not read or watched a documentary about extensive results on physical examination and medical studies of aboriginal people. Would the results be exclusive to scientists and medical practitioners only? Maybe science has made man live longer, but, more susceptible to ailments and diseases. I also have not read any article about the life span or real age of aboriginal people compared to modern man. Life expectancy has become longer but this is largely dependent on medicine. It is doubtful if the aboriginal people would have medicines that come close to that of modern man.

The ailments and diseases of modern man seem to be pointing to progress and change of lifestyle. Even those who migrate to other countries are affected in one way or another. They may look healthy on some aspects but they never know what is happening exactly in their cells. There are cells called anti-nuclear cells, that, as I was made to understand, they oppose or attack normal cells. This was as explained to me in layman's terms by a physician. I tried to research on it and asked the physician about this, because these anti-nuclear cells causes the disease called lupus. I tried to research on it and asked the physician about this, because this causes the disease called lupus. For one thing, immigrants have a change of diet and lifestyle. I made mention of this because I have a sister who immigrated and was afflicted or contracted, whichever applies, with lupus. After several consultations, the last one made her well without complicated treatments. I believe, it was just a change of diet and lifestyle that helped a lot. For one thing, immigrants have a change of diet and lifestyle. One might say, there are migratory birds! Yes, that's true, but they have been used to that and it has been their life ever since. They did not change to that. That is also the reason why it is difficult for wild animals to survive in captivity. For them to survive, they will need medical attention and care, even more than what human beings need.

Diesel Engines

Did you know that diesel engines do not need batteries to run? Diesel engines do not have spark plugs like gasoline engines. Gasoline engines have Spark Combustion while Diesel Engines have Compression Combustion to run. Gasoline engines compress the fuel and air mixture of around 10:1. So if that volume of 10 fuel/air mixture is compressed to 1, it will need the spark from the spark plug to have combustion. The diesel engine meanwhile, has a bigger compression ratio of around 24:1. So, when a volume of 24 pure air is compressed to 1, diesel is injected, combustion occurs! In place of spark plugs, diesel engines have diesel injection to do the job. It was my former mechanic who taught me about this first.
Note that gasoline engines compress the fuel/air mixture. Diesel compresses only the air first and when it is about to be compressed to 1, diesel fuel is injected. So, if your diesel-engined vehicle has a dead battery, you can still start the engine start the engine by pushing the car and crank starting it! Beware though, if your transmission is automatic, this might not allow crank starting!

Fathers and Teenage Sons

The generation gap is getting narrower as time passes by. This has come to a realization for myself because we are a closely knit family in our country. The influences of technology, society and education has a lot to do with this. When I was a teen-ager from the late 1960s to the early or mid-1970s, we enrolled in schools on our own and got report cards from school. We did not have those PTAs or PTACs. We were trusted by our parents on those things and knew they were part of our responsibilities. I would say, my teen years were the years when drug addiction came to the forefront. In a family of 10, I definitely had problems! My father had a heart condition that prevented him from being employed regularly, even if he was a Civil and Mining engineer at the same time. There were four of us last siblings still going to school. I was the only son going to school with three sisters.

From that time, with the number of nephews and nieces we had, I had observed that one year to next for them was not so different. Talking about the 1970s and 1980s. What one had gone through in a year or more during those days didn't vary much on generation gap. They had the same education, leisures and pleasures in life. The 1990s had a different story to tell. Technology was advancing so fast that aging of of children could not cope as fast. To cut the long story short, we had sophisticated calculators, cellphones and computers emerging on those years. The late 90s were the teen years of my eldest son, now to be 25 years old, by March 2008. It was completely different during my days! We were brought up differently during our teen years, so I had to accept changes. Right now, I have my youngest son in his teen years and experiencing differently from that of his older brother and that of mine. I have accepted the changes in in generation gaps and I am glad that my youngest son finds a good reason to come home early and stay at home when not in school. Of course, there are still those binges when a friend or school mates go out on some week ends. I perceive that as normal and natural.

A delicate issue, which is sex, is something I never brought up with them. Taking away influences that they could prematurely think of it, I still believe that what nature has to offer comes along naturally. As long as they have the family and the diversions not to think about sex, it is alright with me. Maybe fathers should realize, whether they've been bad or good in their teens years, things change in a way it is sometimes difficult to accept.

When to Service your Cars Brake Pads

One of the better ways to check on your car brake pads is through the Brake Master Reservoir. This is where you top off your brake fluid. As long as your brake system has no brake fluid leaks, and you don't top off your reservoir too frequently, it is a reliable gage on how worn out your brake pads are. This is advisable for those who have difficulty identifying brake pad indicators or calipers. It is also advisable to make this checks only on Brand New vehicles or those with just Newly Installed brake pads.

There is really no need to top-off the the brake fluid reservoir once it goes below the maximum level line. You really need to top it off only when it is close to the minimum level line. When the fluid level is close to the Minimum Level Line on the Brake Fluid Reservoir, it is best to have the brake pads checked on how worn out it is. Again, make sure first that your brake system has no leaks. Some leaks may not be visible from the outside, especially for those equipped with brake drums. So, in having your brakes serviced or checked at this point could also tell if the system has a leak.

If you always maintain your brake fluid levels to maximum, it will not be a reliable gage to see how worn out the brake pads are. If you observe that the fluid level goes down abnormally after just a few days or miles of drive, better have your brake system checked for leaks.

Social Sites

Paying Social Networking Sites have mushroomed lately on the Internet. These are Yuwie, Rotatrix, NaRple, Zubby and Lazzeo. I have joined all of these social sites believing that I will be doing there what I mostly do online, and get PAID for it. On the first two sites, Yuwie and Rotatrix, I have worked on both eagerly for 3 and 2 months, respectively. The opportunity really looked good then. Months after that, members of yuwie found an easy and faster way to earn through yuwie, and that was the Voxant News Room. Many members were experiencing very poor earnings and resorted to posting the news feed on their profiles. Yuwie found it too and also became a news feed member. Administration found out that members were "clicking" more on the news feeds, as friends were helping each other earn better. Many members, like myself, lost interest in doing the usual activity at Yuwie.
As for the copy cats, they made a good initial salvo, but suffered several down times and web site or server glitches. Many have resorted to pop-up ads for income generation. Some even actually allow members to post ads and solicit referrals. Presently, I doubt if any of them as reached 10,000 members as of this writing.
So, in comparison to Multiply, Friendster, Facebook, MySpace and others that have millions of members, true they are not paid but they are not fooled into wasting their time there for a few cents each month. They log in and out of their accounts as they wish. With the paying social sites, you are forced to log in and visit to make a mark on profiles to get earnings through points or credits.
There is also no truth to the claim that you can do at the paying social sites what you normally do online or in social sites. At present, I have 170 plus on my down line but my network hardly earns a dollar a month on regular activity like I do at non-paying social sites.

Carburetors: Water injection

Water injection in cars has been done before but was not promoted. In early 1980 order catalogs, I have been reading about different water injection systems on sale. The systems ranged from simple systems to complicated electronically controlled ones. The benefits printed on their promotions states the following:

1. Water injection helps to cool the mixture of gas and air.
2. The gas-air mixture with water mist expands more during combustion.
3. There is more complete combustion that makes for cleaner combustion chamber and parts.
4. The water ratio used is 1 Gallon for every 100 miles.
5. A more complete combustion gives cleaner exhaust emissions.
6. Increases power with greater expansion during combustion.
7. There is economy with more complete combustion.

After reading all those benefits, I went to work making a contraption as shown and illustrated on the simplest water injection system. I did not have to buy any material that I used. For the container, I used a sturdy plastic 1 gallon container with a screw-on, 1-1/2 inch diameter, plastic cap. I had sufficient spare of aquarium plastic tubes about 3 meters long. A "T" coupling was needed to draw both air and water, so I used a spare from the windshield water tubes. To control air and water flow, I used the control screws of an empty disposable butane lighter. This was attached to the other end of the "T". At the bottom of the "T", I attached a length of plastic tube with an air-stone, to filter water impurities, almost equal to the length of the Plastic Container. The other end of the "T" is the plastic tube connected to a vacuum port at the base of the carburettor. It took only a little while to get the correct mix of air and water drawn. The engine idling smooths out with the right proportion.
By the way, I installed the system on my 1980 Ford Escort 1600. It did not have any emission control systems in it. All the benefits of the system came true. My gasoline consumption went 2 more kilometers per liter. In the four consecutive years undergoing emission tests prior to each registration, the CO and HCL emissions of my car outdid the emissions of brand new cars. Sadly, I had to sell the car a few months back.

Creation Beginnings

This is a start-up post right after having created my account here. It has nothing to do with the creation and beginnings of the world. Titles of blogs should have a come-on to arouse some curiosity from prospective readers. I have decided to set up an blog site here because the other site where I make posts regularly, has had some uptime problems. Scouting for prospective blog sites, I came across blogger.com Having reviewed a large number of sites, I have noticed that blog sites by blogger.com comes up quickly.
Actually, I was considering to subscribe to a paid web hosting for a blog site. My immediate concerns though, were the costs of setting up one. I know that my youngest son or brother-in-law could help very well because they are very good at website design and setting up. That definitely would save me a huge sum from hiring a webmaster to do those for me. I am aware that the costs of maintaining web sites could be offset by sponsors or advertisers. I might even make some gains out of it! Maybe I will have to take it up again a few months from now so I can prepare a for a small budget to start with it.
Well, I am here, so the best is try to make the most of it.
